Happy Holidays!  Reel Time is your monthly link to this growing Christian film community. Throughout this year, Reel Time has been and will continue to be your link to the latest industry tips and trends and will provide you with great information about filmmakers and their projects, employment opportunities, and links to the blogs of fellow filmmakers and Christian film enthusiasts.  Yes, it's pretty cool.. and we're not talking about the weather!

The seventh annual SONscreen Film Festival (SSFF) seeks SHORTS  in the categories of drama/narratives, documentaries, music videos, comedies, public service announcements (PSA's 60 sec), animation and INTERNATIONAL films 30 min. or less for our 2009 festival taking place April 16-18, 2009  at AMP Studios in Simi Valley, CA. "SONNY" Award , Audience Choice, cash prizes and collegiate scholarships valuing over $5000 will be awarded for Best in Fest, Best Category, Best Highschool and Best International films.
SSFF 2008 had over 200 attendees throughout the 3 day weekend and screened just under 40 films. In addition to public exposure, filmmakers in attendance gained access to an eclectic mix of Christian industry professionals and like-minded inspiring creatives from Adventist and public schools and various organizations.  Click HERE to see what our filmmakers had to say about their festival experience.
Previous premieres at the festival include award winning films SECRET OF THE CAVE (Zach Gray), THE LEAST OF THESE (Rik Swartzwelder), UNTO THE ENDS (Paul Kim), and guest presenters DeVon Franklin (Columbia Pictures),  Christopher Erskin (JOHNSON FAMILY VACATION), Terry Benedict (THE CONSCIENTIOUS OBJECTOR), Korey Scott Pollard (MONK, HOUSE, CSI) and Karen Kirkland (Nickelodeon) among others. This year we're honored to have speakers Karen Covell (Director, Hollywood Prayer Network) and Chris Christmas (Designer/Chief Creative Officer, ChrisChristmas)

The SONscreen Film Festival has partnered with AdventistFilmmaker.com to provide a platform for filmmakers to stay connected throughout the year. Adventist filmmaker now has more than 150 members on the site from all over the world! The mission of AdventistFilmmaker.com is to provide a social networking area for professional and student Seventh-day Adventist and other Christian filmmakers to stay in touch, share ideas, and collaborate on projects.
 
Registered users can upload pictures, videos, email friends, discuss topics in the forum, and blog about their projects with other members. The site also provides opportunities for members to create their own groups on the site to discuss common interests such as animation, documentary, festivals, etc. Membership is free. Sign-up today! Location: Falls Church, VA.
Description : Offering part time internships for the Spring Semester. These internships are UNPAID, but school credit and travel stipend is offered. You do not need to be a student to apply. Office hours are Monday-Friday, 9:15am to 5:30pm. The internship would run from January 14, 2009 through May 1, 2009. Interns are responsible to come in for at least 2 consecutive days a week. You may work more than 2 days if your schedule allows. Strong computer skills and basic video camera knowledge (framing terms, camera use, etc) are a plus. There is no better way to learn the casting/film industry than behind the scenes.

Description : looking for an editor who
works well in a creative, collaborative environment and can establish an
efficient post-production workflow. We produce video content for interactive
kiosks for museums and aquariums. (whales to corals and everything in
between!). The ideal applicant knows the entire Final Cut Suite, including Final Cut
Pro 6, DVD Studio Pro 4, Soundtrack, Motion, Color, and Compressor. We work
with existing and new footage, SD and HD, tape as well as tapeless formats.
The ideal applicant is flexible and comfortable ingesting a wide variety of
formats and delivering to a wider variety of formats, including the web.
Additionally, knowledge of compression, encoding, Internet delivery, and FTP
is essential.
